At the beginning of the show, King Robert Baratheon, trapped
in a political marriage to the rich and scheming Cersei Lannister, asks his
lifelong friend, Lord Eddard “Ned” Stark of Winterfell, to be his new Hand.
Meanwhile, the throne is threatened from East by Daenerys and Viserys
Targaryen, the princess and prince of the Targaryen dynasty who were exiled
after their family was massacred. There’s also rumor in the wind strange things
happen at the edge of the kingdom, where Jon Snow, the bastard son of Lord
Eddard “Ned” Stark of Winterfell, comes to accept the men of the Night’s Watch
as his new brothers.
